How do I search for articles in Primo?
Answer
Primo is a discovery search tool that will let you search most of our library's databases and open-access sources for articles from a single search box! You can find a lot of results this way, so you will need to learn how to use filters to find the most meaningful articles for your research.
You will find Primo on the library homepage.
You can:
1. Use the quick search box at the top of the library homepage and change the drop-down list from Library Catalog to Articles.
OR
2. Click on "Search Primo" to open the Primo homepage.
- Sign in to your account from the top right of the Primo homepage (if you don't see Sign in, click on the three dots...). Use your JCC username and password.
- Type your keywords into the search box and select "Articles" from the search box drop-down list.
- On the results page, look under Tweak your results or click on the filter icon for a list of filters.
- Expand Resource Type, you will see the Articles filter. Click it to limit your results to articles only.
- If you need scholarly or peer-reviewed articles select the Peer-reviewed Journal filter under Availability.
- To limit your results to a specific time frame enter a start and end year under Creation Date. (you can also change Sort by to Date-newest)
- Expand Subject to see if you can further refine your results. Mark the check box to select a subject, or click on the red check box at the right of the subject to remove it from your results.
- From the result list, click the Available Online link beneath any article to see a list of resources where the article is available. Click on any of the resource links to read the article.
NOTE: Primo works best with Firefox and Chrome browsers.
