How do I find journal articles?
Answer
- From the Library homepage click on Search Primo and enter your search term and change the search box drop-down list to Articles. Each result will contain a link to the article in a database, or in print from the JCC libraries' periodical collection.
- For more information about Primo and to find database tutorials go to the JCC Library Tutorials and Guides Libguide.
- For a more focused search use the JCC Library databases, which can be accessed 24/7. Go to the A-Z Database List and select a database to search.
- Look at the list of Popular Databases. (You may need to scroll down to the end of the A-Z list to see the Popular Databases list). These are mostly general topic databases and are a good place to start.
- General Databases cover a wide range of subjects. Under the "All Database Types" drop-down menu, select "General" from the list to select and search one of the General Databases.
- If your topic falls under a specific subject area, use the "All Subjects" drop-down menu and select the subject area (example: Education) to select and search one of the Subject Databases. As you are browsing the A-Z Database List, look for database titles that have "Popular" or "Best Bets" icons beside them. Those databases are highly recommended by librarians and users.
- The Introduction to Research Libguide will help you to focus your topic and contains tips on searching the databases for articles. There are other Libguides (research guides created by the JCC Librarians) containing resources and research help on many different subjects.
- The JCC Libraries also subscribe to many journals and magazines in print. You can find 12 months of issues on the Current Periodicals shelves in the library. For journals and magazines older than one year, look in the Back Periodicals shelves.
Please Note: If you are trying to access the databases off-campus, you will need to enter your JCC username and password.
