How much does streaming media content cost?

Answer

Typically, libraries must lease streaming media content, which means the costs are ongoing, rather than the one-time purchase of a DVD.  Institutional licensing of streaming media content can range from about $120 per title, per year to $15,000 per year for a comprehensive collection, like Alexander Street Academic Video.  By comparison, the one-time purchase of a DVD can range from $20 to $400.
