How do I chat with a librarian?

Answer

You can find our chat or email services on many of the library webpages and tools:  Click on "Questions? Ask Us!" on the library homepage or scroll down to the Library FAQ and Chat form at the bottom of the page.  A "Chat with us" button displays on all FAQ pages and a slide out button will appear on all JCC Libguides.

A green "Chat with us" button means that a JCC librarian or library staff member is online.

A red "Chat is Offline" button means that we are not online, but you can still use the form to submit a question by email.  We will answer your question as soon as possible.

Click on the green "Chat with Us" button to open a session with the JCC libraries, enter your question and hit "Submit":

Some button suggestions

Some suggestions to make your chat experience easier:

1.  Click on the Pop out chat box button.  This will "pop" the chat box into its own browser window so that your connection to the chat will be retained if you click on a link or move to a different window.

2.  If you want to hear a signal when a new message has been posted to the chat window, click on the speaker button.

We will probably send a request for your email address, just in case we are disconnected so that we can send you the requested information.

We may ask you a few questions, for example, "What class is this for?" or "Where have you looked so far?"

When we have enough information, we will look for answers to your question.  It may take a few minutes, so be patient.

We may send you a link to one of our FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions), or a link to another resource.

You can view or email a transcript of the chat at any time by clicking on the envelope icon.

You can continue to ask questions, or end the chat by clicking on the "X":
