Q. How do I put an online poem in my works cited?

I found a poem on line, how does it appear on the Works Cited page?

Answer

Poems–except for epic poems such as Paradise Lost–are usually styled in quotation marks, even if they are published by themselves on a Web site rather than as part of a collection.

Here is an example of how to cite an online poem in MLA 8th edition:

Shelley, Percy Bysshe. “Matilda Gathering Flowers.” Poetry Foundation, 2017,

www.poetryfoundation.org/poems/92195/matilda-gathering-flowers.
