Q. What is a periodical?

Answer

A "periodical" or serial is any publication that comes out on a recurring basis (periodically).  Sports Illustrated, The Journal of Anthropological Research, The World Almanac, and the phone book are all periodicals.

More information about the different kinds of periodicals (scholarly journals, magazines, newspapers, etc.) can be found on the Identifying Scholarly Journal Articles LibGuide.
